SALARY: $49,722.00 to 61,489.82; Plus medical, dental and 401K Benefits
MAJOR DUTIES:
-Respond to fire alarms
-Extinguish fires
-Provide advanced life support
-Perform vehicle and accident extrication
-Inspects buildings and property for
compliance with fire protection laws, including alarm systems and water
supply systems
-Participate in and conduct training sessions and practice drills
-Perform routine maintenance of hydrants, vehicles, fire station
buildings, and quarters
-Performs related accurate record keeping duties
-May be required to make safety
presentations to schools, clubs, or other public gatherings
-Ability to follow written and oral
instructions, learn and apply basic fire fighting techniques and
procedures, perform physical duties which may include but are not
limited to reaching, lifting, carrying, and pulling
-Establish and maintain effective
working relationships, perform mathematical calculations, remain calm in
emergencies, acquire certifications as required.
-Performs other related duties as
assigned
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
California State EMT-P and San Diego County Accreditation within 60 days
of hire.
- ACLS Certification
- CPR
- Current CDL Class C, Ambulance
endorsement within 30 days of hire.
-
Graduation from High School
or equivalent
- Firefighter I highly desired
but not required (must pass FF-I within 12 months of hire.)
SELECTION
PROCESS:
Application
Review:
-All applicants must submit clear,
concise, and complete information regarding their qualifications for the
position. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be
invited to participate further in the selection process.
Written Test:
-To
evaluate the knowledge in the areas of emergency medical, and judgement
of the applicant.
Agility Test:
-To
evaluate the ability to physically perform the duties of the position.
Appraisal
Interview:
-To
evaluate training, experience, and personal qualifications.
NOTE:
Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment medical exam, drug
test and background check.
