SALARY/WAGE:  Depends on Experience

STATUS:  Non-Exempt

HOURS:  56 hour work week schedule (48 on, 96 off)

​

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

• Class C California Driver’s License

• CA EMT-P Certificate & SD County Accreditation at time of hire.

• ACLS certification at time of hire, CPR certification, CPAT, Fire Department experience.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilites is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge would be: Previous experience working as a firefighter. EMT and/or paramedic. 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in the Fire Sciences.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision, responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous condition situations, public incidents, and other types of emergencies. Protects life and property endangered by fire and other emergencies; performs fire safety inspections, and performs related duties as required. Positions in this class are primarily responsible for the operations of a fire hose and related equipment when engaged in fire suppression and the administration of first aid when engaged in medical calls.
