FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC

SALARY/WAGE: Depends on Experience
HOURS: 56 hour work week schedule (48 on, 96 off)
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:
Class C California Driver’s License
CA EMT-P Certificate & SD County Accreditation at time of hire.
ACLS certification at time of hire, CPR certification, CPAT, Fire Department experience.
HS Diploma or equivalent
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilites is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge would be: Previous experience working as a firefighter. EMT and/or paramedic.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in the Fire Sciences.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision, responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous condition situations, public incidents, and other types of emergencies. Protects life and property endangered by fire and other emergencies; performs fire safety inspections, and performs related duties as required. Positions in this class are primarily responsible for the operations of a fire hose and related equipment when engaged in fire suppression and the administration of first aid when engaged in medical calls.
